Revalidation

The following events are to be used as a means of revalidation and also to provide a greater knowledge of judo and other associated areas of expertise. The coaches shall select one of the following skill areas for revalidation each year:
• Coaching Elements:
Attend a National or Regional Coaching Award Course for assessment of current coaching and teaching practices. A written examination is not required for revalidation.

N.B. Please note that coaches must attend this element at least once every 5 Years.
• Kata elements:
Attend a National or Regional Kata Course and study kata from the following accept list:
- Nage No Kata
- Katame No Kata
- Kaeshi No Kata
- Kime No Kata
- Ju No Kata
Only one kata is required for annual revalidation.

N.B. Please note that a repeat of the same kata each year will not be acceptable.
• Coaching Associated Elements:
The following elements must be revalidated every 3 years as part of the B.J.C. (M.A.C.) Insurance requirements, refer to the Company Secretary for further information. Attendance and appropriate certification for either course may be used as an annual coaching award revalidation event, however, these events are not provided by the B.J.C. (M.A.C.):
- First Aid Course
- Safeguarding and Protecting Children Course (N.S.P.C.C.)

N.B. In addition to the above elements, each coach must have a valid C.R.B. Certificate (Enhanced Disclosure) which must be renewed on a 3 year cycle, however, this is not considered as a revalidation event.
• Special Events:
Other events may be taken into account, such as attendance at specific refereeing and theory courses. Acceptance of these courses for revalidation must be agrees with the Examining Board prior to the event.
A Revalidation Record Card shall be kept by each Coach and shall be completed and signed by Level 3 or 4 Examiners, in accordance with the requirements of the B.J.C. (M.A.C.) Grading and Award Syllabus, following completion of each event. The record card shall be attached to their Membership Registration Book and provided at each revalidation event.
The above relate specifically to revalidation and not to obtaining levels of Coaching Awards. The requirements for attaining CoachingAward qualifications are set out in the B.J.C. (M.A.C.) Grading and Award Syllabus, and can be viewed by selecting the required level on the Coaching Syllabus menu page.
